Shipping Begins Today...Finally!

Happy Friday!

I am pleased to announce that today I will begin packing and shipping everyone's folios, notebooks, and sketchpads!

I received the new production of folios last night and they are made exactly to my specifications.  The width is 1/2in wider and tablet clips work as they were originally intended for small tablets and sketchpads.

Thank you for your patience as I worked to correct these folios and make them work as I had hoped.  If anyone would like to use the smaller Thin version, please send me an email and I will include this instead of the Wide edition ([email protected])

Cheers,

Mike

Quick Update
over 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 03, 2017 at 08:37:31 PM

Hello!

I finally heard from the manufacturer that they are about 5-10 days away from completing the second folio production run! This doesn't include shipping time but as soon as the folio cases are on their way to me I will send out another update.

I will also begin locking down the addresses in BackerKit (the reward fulfillment website) so that I can print out shipping labels.  If you are moving soon or did move in the past couple months there will be a link emailed to you to confirm your mailing address.

For now, I am preparing for a quick turnaround to get your rewards out the door!

Moving Along Nicely
over 7 years ago – Thu, Feb 23, 2017 at 09:48:10 AM

Hello!

The second folio production run is progressing well and, after reviewing the first batch over a Skype call yesterday, I am happy to report that the dimensions for the tablet clips and the width of the case overall have been corrected and look great!  While I don't have an estimate on timing yet, they are working very hard to get them completed and done right.

I am also pleased to say that all the notebooks and sketchpads have arrived and the cover colors look beautiful!  The offset printing on the notebook pages is exactly what I was expecting which is to say that the layouts are light and clean to help keep your work organized without getting in the way.

The sketchpads are all perfectly cut and fit well in the tablet clips.  These are good for sketching, to-do lists, and other notes you need to quickly write down.

I will be in touch next week but I wanted to let you know your folios are all moving along nicely.

Cheers,

Mike

Some Good News :)

I hope this finds you well!

Last week I shared with you that the first production run did not have the correct tablet clip dimensions and the width of the spine was too narrow.  Now with the feedback I have collected this past week, as well as testing the notebooks for fit, the new edition of folios will be moving into production!  I don’t have a timeline for delivery yet but I hope to have this information soon.  Thank you to everyone who reached out with feedback on the folios.

For those of you who ordered and received only the folio, I appreciate your comments.  If you are in this category and using just the folio, there is a temporary fix to the tablet issue which was supplied by some of our ingenious backers.  To act as a workaround on the tablet clips that were too far apart, the clips can be spun around in the elastic band to accommodate the small tablets like the iPad Mini.  This should solve the problem until we can send out newly revised folios in the near future.

Doing this allows for the tablet buttons to still be used and only overlaps the viewable screen by a few millimeters.  The folio also holds a number of smaller notebooks including the one I am creating as you can see below.

I added more photos that fit in this 'slim' edition HERE and some of the notebooks that do fit are below.

  • Original Content Books Notebooks - A5  (5.75 x 8.25in)
  • Moleskine Soft Cover - Large (5 x 8.25in)
  • Moleskin Cahier - Large (5 x 8.25in)
  • Code & Quill - Traveler (5.5 x 7.7in)
  • Maruman Mnemosyne Notebook A5 (6.25 x 8.25in)
  • Hatch Notebook - A5 (5.75 x 8.25in)
  • Mead Planners - (6 x 8.5in)
  • Doane Paper Notepad and Notebooks - Large (5 x 7in)

Speaking of notebooks, I received a picture from the bookbinder of your notebooks all ready for trimming, corner rounding, and screen printing.

As soon as I have an estimate on delivery of the new folios I will share this. In the meantime please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Mike

Your feedback is important to me
over 7 years ago – Thu, Jan 26, 2017 at 01:28:25 PM

After shipping out the notebook folios to those backers that requested only a folio, I have begun to receive some very important feedback on this first batch. It is clear there are two issues that are impacting the use of the folios, and they both can be fixed with a second production run.

The issues are; the width of the folio can’t accommodate some of the thicker notebooks, and the tablet clips are set too far apart to hold the smaller range of tablets. I did extensive testing on the final sample to make sure these types of issues would not be a problem, but the final production run used incorrect dimensions.

I have already begun working with the manufacturer to fix the mistakes they made in the first batch to ensure an accurate second run. I still stand by this manufacturer as they do make good quality products, and will give them another shot to get it right.

I don’t have timing estimates for the second run and will be in touch once I do have a better idea.

As for the notebooks and sketchpads, things are still progressing along this week at the bookbinder to get these all done.

Thank you to everyone that reached out to me for the honest feedback on the initial folio and please be assured that I will make this right.

I know the feeling of getting a reward from a Kickstarter that isn’t up to par, but as I want to build a solid foundation for this company, I am committed to making this folio work properly. Over the next week please let me know if you have any additional comments or feedback so I can incorporate them in the new design.

Thank you again for backing my project and for making this project great.

Mike
